What a wonderful afternoon creating this festive decoration archway for a Vintage Inspired Christmas Portrait shoot with the beautiful Beth. Beth’s royal blue and white polka dot Christmas dress from the fabulous Lady Vintage London looked great with her ruby red lips and a rose and berry flower crown. During the shoot we got into the Christmas spirit with a medley of classic Christmas tunes playing in the background and some yummy cupcakes impressively decorated with stars, green icing and Father Christmas rings!! Since Christmas, Vintage and creating beautiful photographs of gorgeous women like Beth are some of my favourite things in the world this shoot made me a very happy photographer! Find out how we made our Christmas Decoration Arch and Festive Flower Crown at the bottom of this post!
Baubles, tinsel, stars and polka dots…..heaven!!
Our Christmas flower crown combined roses, red berries, ivy, pine cones and of course twinkling fairy lights!!
Couldn’t resist popping on this one to finish!!! Just love it!
How to make your very own Christmas Arch and Flower Crown!
Step One: Visit your local charity shops in search of vintage baubles, beads, bows and other decorations.
Step Two: Buy Christmas lights or dig them out of the loft!
Step Three: You need some kind of pole e.g. length of bamboo to hang your decorations onto (We used a photography Background stand) You could also use a length of rope or thick cord.
Step Four: Start by arranging your lights- Use clear beading thread or fishing line to attach the lights to the pole. Start with a shorter piece in the center and lengthen them as you move out. If yo ulook closely you can see the thread in the photos.
Step Five: Use the same technique to hang lengths of beads. Then tie on the baubles to the beads to create an arch shape.
Step Six: Once you have your shape continue adding decorations until you are happy and feeling truly festive!
Step Seven: Treat yourself to a mince pie and glass of mulled wine as step back to admire your completed arch!!
CHRISTMAS FLOWER CROWN
Step One: Use wire to create a crown shape by creating a circle before loosely twisting the wire around it to create spaces to attach your decorations OR simply cheat and buy a Christmas wreath or table center which is the right size to sit on a head to use as a base.
Step Two: Use more wire or clear fishing wline to add decorations – a glue gun could also come in handy!
Step Three: Twist round fairy lights with their own battery pack which you position at the back of the crown. These are currently available from Wilko’s for £3!!!
Step Four: Wear with pride and be prepared to dazzle!!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
